Reflection on Teaching Practice: A Pillar of Continuous Improvement in the New Mexican School
Keywords:
Reflection on teaching practice, teacher professional development, continuous improvement in education, learning communitiesAbstract
In contemporary educational systems, reflection on teaching practice is a central pillar of educational improvement, as it transforms the teacher's role from that of a mere implementer of curricula to an active researcher of their own teaching. At both the international and national levels, this process enables teachers to critically analyze their strategies, facilitating continuous improvement adaptable to changing needs and the diversity of students in the classroom. It also ensures that teacher training is a dynamic cycle that enhances the quality of teaching and learning and professionalizes the educational profession. In the Mexican Educational System, the New Mexican School (NEM) is implemented, and within it, reflection on teaching practice acquires relevance as a strategy to promote student-centered education with a humanistic, critical, inclusive, and community-based approach to achieve a comprehensive, equitable, and excellent education. This article is developed using a qualitative approach of documentary review, with the objective of providing the reader with a critical analysis of the role of reflection on teaching practice as a pillar of continuous improvement in Mexican education.
