The Importance of Digital Resources in Teaching History in Secondary School
Keywords:

Teaching history in the digital age is essential for developing informed, critical, and engaged citizens through access to diverse information, interactive methodologies, and a deep understanding of the historical context, thus preparing new generations to face the challenges of the present and the future. The incorporation of digital media into history teaching has proven to have a significant impact on the teaching and learning of history. Combined with the motivational interaction offered by digital media such as Google Classroom, Moodle, Google Drive, Google Meet videoconferencing, educational videos on YouTube, various educational platforms like Sofia and Canva, and social networks, this allows for a transformation in how students access, interpret, and understand the past, enabling comparisons with real life. Digital resources promote inclusion and allow for addressing different learning styles and specific needs. However, a digital divide exists that limits learning opportunities in some school contexts. Finally, a digital resource is an active element of great educational value in digital format, which can be viewed and stored on an electronic device or accessed directly on the Internet. It not only enriches the content and facilitates its understanding, but also promotes more participatory, critical, and inclusive learning. In this way, the teaching of History can respond to the demands of a digital society without losing its formative and reflective essence.
