Influence of nutrition on skin integrity and dermal aging: a preventive health perspective

Skin health is a comprehensive reflection of an individual's nutritional status. Various micronutrients, including vitamins A, C, E, and essential fatty acids, play a crucial role in dermal regeneration, collagen synthesis, and protection against oxidative stress. This review explores the connection between a balanced diet and skin integrity, highlighting how nutrition rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds can prevent premature aging and support dermatological health. It also addresses the adverse effects of poor dietary habits, such as excessive intake of refined sugars and trans fats. The findings underscore that promoting proper nutrition is not only essential for preventing systemic diseases but also vital in preserving the skin’s barrier function, elasticity, and overall healthy appearance over time.
