Canva for teaching the Kichwa alphabet: An experience with children aged 6 to 7

The main objective of this research was to implement didactic resources in Canva for the teaching of the Kichwa alphabet to children from 6 to 7 years old, taking as a research unit the Educational Unit “Los Cañaris” of the Luis Cordero parish, Azogues, due to the progressive loss of the practice and teaching of the Kichwa language, especially in rural areas of the country. To address this issue, a descriptive - non-experimental methodology was used with a quantitative and cross-sectional approach, applying a structured survey under the Likert scale to 28 people who make up the teachers and administrative staff of the participating Educational Unit. The results showed the wide use of technological didactic resources as part of active methodologies (67.8%), although the use of Canva is very infrequent (25%); as for the teaching of the Kichwa language, 42.9% of the population has a very low level, however, in this same percentage, they support the need to teach Kichwa to children from 6 to 7 years old and that it should be included in the curriculum. Therefore, a technological didactic proposal was implemented in Canva for learning the Kichwa alphabet as the basis for learning the language, through an interactive platform that is simple to use and manage. Concluding that, this will allow not only to rescue an ancestral custom such as the Kichwa language, but also to support the inclusion of interculturality in education.
