The role of agricultural extension in strengthening business management in agricultural and livestock operations
Keywords:
Planning, adoption, sustainability, digitalization, entrepreneurshipAbstract
The transformation of agricultural production systems requires an understanding of how advisory services can help improve farm organization and performance. Within this framework, the study aimed to analyze recent evidence regarding their contribution to planning, decision-making, and productive sustainability. A literature review was conducted with a qualitative approach, descriptive scope, and comparative orientation, based on 25 scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025. The studies were organized into thematic areas related to technology adoption, production performance, climate adaptation, digitalization, inclusion, and entrepreneurship. The results show that these services promote the incorporation of innovations, the more efficient use of resources, market orientation, and the ability to respond to changing contexts. The evidence suggests that their contribution goes beyond technical transfer and positions them as a strategic component for more competitive and sustainable production that is aligned with new environmental demands.
