Digital literacy as a transversal competence in the training of psychologists: a strategic proposal
Keywords:
Digital literacy, higher education, psychology, digital competencies, transversalityAbstract
Digital literacy has become a key competence in university education, particularly in disciplines such as Psychology, where the use of technological tools impacts research, professional practice, and ethical training. Through a narrative literature review (2020–2025), trends, challenges, and opportunities for integrating digital competencies in higher education are identified. The analysis shows that computer science is often taught as an isolated subject, limiting comprehensive student preparation. A transversal digital literacy integration strategy is proposed for the Psychology curriculum, based on curricular redesign, teacher training, incorporation of technological resources, and digital competence assessment. This proposal aims to strengthen the academic and professional training of future psychologists, enhancing their integration into increasingly digitalized work environments.
